Make your own fabric shopping tote.  If your goal is to cut down on waste, or simply be kinder to the environment, this pattern will help get you started.  Choose an eco-sensitive fabric such as hemp or any heavier weight drill, duck, upholstery, canvas or linen fabric of your choice. Available is a free digital download, a pdf file able to be immediately printed to your home printer.  

If you have not used a pdf sewing pattern before, this is an easy way of figuring out how they work.

Download the pattern after going through the checkout - you will need to create an account - the pattern will show in your cart as $0.  The pattern will be in your account forever, and you can download it as many times as you want. There may be a slight delay in accessing the download as your email address needs to be verified.

It is printable in both US letter and A4 sizes.   There is also an A0 printshop PDF option.  The print at home option pages are very easy to assemble, simply match the letters and numbers of the grid and tape or stick glue into position before cutting out. 

Please ensure before you print that your printer settings are set to "DO NOT SCALE" (Print actual size) 

Please print the page with the test square as a single print job before you send the full pdf document to the printer, with your printer settings on "do not scale".  This will print a test size square which you can measure to ensure the pattern will print to the correct size. This square is 10cm (which is just short of 4 inches - 3 15/16") . The test square will normally be the last or the first page, depending on your printer. You can preview this before printing.

These print in black ink with grainlines in red ink.   You may prefer to change your print settings to "draft" to save ink.

You will need Adobe Reader to read the file and a printer to print out the pattern.
